Here are a few questions that have been brought up.
Q. Is this a KCBS Sanctioned Event? And is it a State Championship?
A. Yes and Yes!!
Q. Do I have to be a KCBS member to compete?
A. No you do not, but it is encouraged. Check out their website for more info: www.kcbs.us
Q. Will there be electricity available and what amps can we expect?
A. For $30 your Team will have access to one 15 amp outlet. We have added a 200 amp services to the field that will have runners out from it with GFCI outlets. At this time you can only reserve one outlet. Come time of the contest if there is another outlet that is not being used you may purchase it, see contest organizer.
Current amp available is 15 amps. If you want to operate: lights, rotisserie, AC, hot water heater and a blender for your morning wake up juice, all at the same time then you will need to bringing your own generator.
Q. When is the Meat Inspection?
A. The inspection will be held shortly after you have checked in and get set up. We will give you time to put your tent(s) set up your chairs out and maybe even crack open a beer.
Q. Are spots assigned yet?
A. Yes and No. Previous year contestants have their spot from the previous year unless they have said otherwise prior to the contest. Teams that indicate a space requirement will also be assigned a space. Everyone else is assigned a week before the contest date. You may start setting up Friday of the event as early as 7 am. If you need to drop off equipment on Thur you MUST indicate a Thur drop off on your entry form.
Q. What size are the spots?
A. The size is 20' x 30' if you need more space please let us know. We should be able to get you a second space. A second space will will be an additional $75.
Q. Do I have to have a Knight of Columbus on my team?
A. No. You only need 2 Knights on your team if you are trying to win the Knights Traveling Trophy and the Cash prize that goes with it.
Q. When is the sides turn in?
A. Sausage will be turned in FRIDAY NIGHT @ 7 pm, Bloody Mary @ 10:30 am Sat, Beans 11:30 am Sat and Dessert 2:00 pm Sat.
Q. Can I Judge your contest?
A. To become eligible to judge you MUST register through the KCBS Website. You can either search out our contest and click to apply to be a judge. It is not a requirement that you are a KCBS member to apply.
Q. Where does the proceeds from the contest go?
A. Half of the money raised with go to saving unborn babies lives through the good works of the Wyandotte Pregnancy Clinic and the other half of the money will go to Our Lady of Unity parish and improving the contest.
